Philips Hue has been offering its Hue Secure cameras for just over a year. In the meantime, the story has really taken off, with numerous improvements via software updates in recent months. Support for Amazon Alexa and Google Home was also announced at the beginning of September.
Now I can finally give you a concrete time frame. At the end of November, the Philips Hue Secure cameras will be made compatible with the two smart home platforms with a software update. It will then be possible to access the live streams via the voice control of the assistants and display them on devices such as the Echo Show, Fire TV or Google Nest Hub.
The routines for Hue Secure will also be integrated into the Hue app at the end of November. This will allow you to create schedules to automatically activate or deactivate the cameras at the desired times. Personally, I’m still missing a geofencing function, as is usually the case in smart homes. In my opinion, this would put the finishing touches to the whole thing and the cameras could then be automatically armed as soon as the last person leaves the home.
