Hueblog: Philips Hue makes Secure cameras even cheaper

Philips Hue makes Secure cameras even cheaper

After the price reduction comes the sale

At the beginning of October, Philips Hue made its Hue Secure cameras cheaper and lowered the recommended retail price. And not too close, the prices were reduced by more than 30 percent in some cases. But that was not the end of the story. After a sale started a few weeks ago in the USA, there is now an additional 20 percent discount on Philips Hue smart cameras in Germany and Europe. And now we’re actually getting to prices that could make you weak at the knees.

Aktion endet am 3. November

If you are interested in buying a Hue Secure camera, then you should strike soon. The reduced prices are only valid until 3 November

Let’s take a look at the basic model, the wired Hue Secure camera with wall mount. Just a month ago, this cost a hefty 199.99 euros in the Philips Hue online store. The camera is currently being sold for just 119.99 euros. This corresponds to a discount of 40 percent and is currently the best price on the Internet.

For just 10 euros more, you can also get the Hue Secure camera with an additional stand, giving you even more positioning options. The wireless Hue Secure camera with integrated rechargeable battery costs just €139.99 – down from €249.99 a month ago.

Not the best cameras – but the best integration

There’s one thing we don’t have to argue about: The Hue Secure cameras truly aren’t the best smart home cameras you can buy. The 1080p resolution is absolutely standard and some important functions such as geofencing are not yet integrated. A subscription is also required if you want to record video events in the cloud; there is no local storage.

On the other hand, no other cameras are better integrated into the Hue system – and I don’t just mean integration into the Hue app. The cameras can also be used as motion sensors without you having to control anything via any detours. Outdoors, you can connect them to your existing low-voltage installation using the appropriate cable and simply supply them with power. If you rely primarily on Philips Hue in your smart home, you won’t go far wrong with the cameras.

In addition, a connection to Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant will be released this year, but I don’t have a specific date for this yet. Matter is also still being planned, but the finished standard is still missing.

Let Philips Hue keep an eye on your home for you! Get a crisp, clear 1080p HD live stream, turn on the lights or send an alert to your mobile device when motion is detected, or even trigger a sound alarm with a tap in the Hue app. This wired home security camera is easy to mount and install in any home.

  1. This update on Philips Hue’s initiative to make secure cameras more affordable is a promising step toward enhancing home security for a wider audience. By lowering costs, they’re not just promoting safety but also encouraging more people to adopt smart technology. It’s great to see advancements that prioritize both accessibility and security, making it easier for everyone to protect their homes effectively.

  2. The Philips marketing department advertise them as a good security solution, but without ONVIF/RTSP support they cannot be taken seriously. I was a real fan of the idea of cameras integrated with Hue system but this is not what I was waiting for.
Seems it was similar with chinese Yi Home cameras, expensive in the beginnings. Later they blocked all the custom access with firmware updates so people started to resign and in few years they were spamming with “promo offers” to buy their camera and get another one for free…
