Just in time for the launch of the Philips Hue Secure cameras, mine made its way yesterday evening, the manufacturer has released another update for its app. From now on you can download Philips Hue version 5.2 from the App Store or Google Play Store. You can count the new stuff on two or three fingers this time.
If you have lost a power cable of a light strip or need new mounts for your Lightbars, Philips Hue now has the right spare parts on offer. After the announcement in September, the official spare parts can now be ordered in the Hue online shop. For example, you can get mounts for the Philips Hue Play Gradient Light Strip including new adhesive strips or a charging station for the Hue Go.
In a little more than three weeks it will be time for Halloween. And what is still a relatively small affair here in Germany is celebrated in the USA, for example. Of course, you can provide the right lighting with Philips Hue. The Halloween scenes launched last year are now available again in the Philips Hue app.
I actually didn’t think it would be such a big deal: Philips Hue wants to make registration with an account for the in-house system mandatory. I have always used Philips Hue with an account, but many of you actually don’t want to. In a small survey, more than 60 percent of the participating readers said they would prefer to use the Hue system without an account.
I’m ready for the weekend and ready for my holiday. Starting Monday, I’m disappearing to Greece for a few days. But I will still keep at least half an eye on Philips Hue in the meantime, among other things the launch of the Hue Secure cameras is coming up. And I have already prepared a few articles for you for the coming week.

This afternoon Philips Hue released another update for its official app – and this time it’s a particularly big one. Philips Hue 5.0 prepares the system for the new Hue Secure components that were officially introduced at the beginning of September. These Hue Secure features have been integrated into the app I have already answered the most important questions and answers about the Hue Secure cameras and the new security system.
As part of its product announcement on September 1st, Philips Hue promised to start selling spare parts directly through its online shop in October. Today I can share with you a list of all the spare parts available at launch, including prices. Philips Hue says that the selection of the offered spare parts was based on the requests of the service hotlines.
