Philips Hue app soon with iPhone widgets again

It’s been a few years since Philips Hue removed the widgets from its iPhone app, but back then they weren’t on the home screen anyway. Apple now allows widgets on the home screen – and since the launch of iOS 17, they can even be interactive. This means that actions can be performed without having to open the corresponding app.

Philips Hue has apparently been waiting for exactly this extra feature. According to my information, the manufacturer is currently preparing the return of the widgets, which will then also land on the home screen.

Unfortunately, I can’t yet tell you exactly what options will be available. However, it can be assumed that you will at least be able to activate individual scenes. I can’t yet tell you whether you will also be able to switch specific lamps and rooms. However, I assume that the widgets will also make it onto the lock screen and will be available in iOS 17 standby mode.

The only way to control Hue lamps directly on the home screen so far is via Siri shortcuts. However, the possibilities in terms of design and control are already quite limited. We can therefore look forward to what Philips Hue will create for us.

Over the last few years, I've become a real expert when it comes to Hue & HomeKit. I now have over 50 lamps and numerous switches in use. I'm happy to share my experiences with you in my little blog.
