Some time ago, Philips Hue added a search function to the home screen of its app. Using a magnifying glass icon in the lower-right corner of the screen, you can quickly search for lights, rooms, or scenes. This small icon has since evolved into the Hue AI Assistant, but personally, I hardly ever use it either.
The Hue Outdoor Sale has just ended, and the next discount promotion is already on the horizon. Philips Hue’s spring deals have kicked off, and there are some serious savings to be had—especially since the new products are included. A few days ago, I was made aware of an interesting issue: the German Philips Hue support website no longer offers email contact options. I quickly realized that this was indeed the case. The German website now only offers written contact options via Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. All of these services require registration.
With version 5.60.1 of the Hue app, Philips Hue has introduced far more new features than officially announced. I have already reported on the multilingual Hue AI Assistant, the new features for the doorbell, and the customized room view. Now, Hueblog reader David has brought a small detail to my attention: a shopping cart icon has appeared on the Hue app’s home screen, to the right of the main switch for the entire home.
At the beginning of the year, Philips Hue announced several software innovations at CES in Las Vegas. First and foremost, of course, is the new SpatialAware, which we will have to wait a few more weeks for. Philips Hue has already implemented other announcements, such as the availability of the Hue AI assistant in additional languages.
Last September, Philips Hue introduced a total of seven new light strips. These are also available in different lengths, giving us a total of 21 different variants. It’s easy to lose track of them all. Especially since not all of the new Philips Hue light strips are available yet. Here in Europe, for example, the Hue Essential series is still missing, which is expected to be released together with the Flux accessories in the eighth calendar week – at least according to my latest information.
Philips Hue usually releases updates for its app every two weeks. We had to wait much longer over the New Year, but now the next update is finally here. The Philips Hue app has jumped from version 5.57.0 to version 5.59.0. ‘Various bug fixes and stability improvements,’ the development team tells us in the update description.
In Germany and several other European countries, customers have been able to save since last week, and now the Philips Hue New Year Lighting Sale is available worldwide. The popular “Mix & Match” offers are also available in the US, UK, and even Australia. I would like to provide you with a brief overview.
