At the beginning of September, Philips Hue launched the new Hue Essential series. I already found the new GU10 spotlights to be absolutely solid, and today we’re continuing with the A60 bulbs. Unlike the GU10 spotlights, these bulbs are also available in the US. One thing is clear: the price is hot.
A GU10 spot rarely comes alone. Until now, it was therefore quite expensive to equip the entire ceiling with GU10 spots from Philips Hue, especially if you want colored light from time to time. A single Philips Hue White and Color Ambiance GU10 spotlight officially costs €64.99. The new Hue Essential GU10 spotlights, which also offer different shades of white and colors, cost only €59.99 (to the Hue-Shop) for a pack of four.
Philips Hue isn’t being very secretive about its new products this year. A week before the big media event in Berlin, numerous new products have appeared on Amazon, revealing new details that I am, of course, happy to summarize for you. New bulbs cover a much wider white spectrum Warm white and cool white have been familiar concepts in the Hue world for years.
In Thursday’s big Hue leak, Philips Hue already hinted that new light bulbs would be coming onto the market. These are not only supposed to consume 40 percent less energy, but also display better white tones and colors and be particularly dimmable. But that’s not all Philips Hue has in store when it comes to light bulbs.
September is going to be really exciting for Philips Hue: a major media event is planned, and numerous new products are likely to be unveiled at the International Radio Exhibition in Berlin. Exactly what these will be is still a complete secret. In April, a striking number of entries for new light bulbs appeared at the FCC regulatory agency.
