Compared to cheaper competitors, Philips Hue lamps often offer slightly better technology. This is demonstrated from time to time in colour rendering, but also in dimming. Especially in the range of less than 25 percent, most Philips Hue lamps can still be controlled very precisely and dimmed to a very low level.
I have been blogging about Philips Hue for more than three years now, starting with the German Hueblog. There I have already asked twice how many lamps you actually have in use. More than a year has passed since the last survey – so it’s time to bring the numbers up to date again.
We still have to wait about a month until the Philips Hue Wall Switch Module finally hits the market. With the small accessory, you will be able to turn classic light switches into Hue light switches in order to be able to switch Philips Hue light bulbs supplied with permanent power.

It’s been almost a year since I introduced you to the unofficial Friends of Hue switch from Sunricher. The Asians have created a module that looks confusingly similar to the familiar and official EnOcean module. And they still stand by their statement that Philips Hue cannot exclude these not-quite-official switches, which are powered by a coin cell, from the Hue Bridge.
Installing a ceiling light or wall light can sometimes be a real challenge without a helping hand. I can’t confirm this completely at the moment, but I have received initial indications that the 2.5-metre outdoor cable and the T-part could soon be sold separately.
Some time ago, my colleague Frederick already told you a few details about the Philips Hue Ensis. At that time, he introduced you to the white version, but in the meantime, the pendant light is also available in black. Reason enough to take another closer look. But where to put the almost 130-centimetre-long lamp, which can shine in different colours at the top and bottom and thus achieve a brightness of up to 6,000 lumens?
