Hue Secure: Currently no remote access to live view

No solution yet

Philips Hue currently appears to be experiencing an issue with its Hue Secure cameras and the new Philips Hue Secure Video Doorbell. It seems that live video cannot be accessed via a mobile connection. This has been reported by numerous readers of the Hueblog. I can also confirm these issues.

“For the past two days, I’ve had the problem that I can no longer access my cameras from ‘outside’ via my cell phone. They can be accessed as usual via Wi-Fi and have an excellent or very good connection,” says a comment in our community. Another user writes: “I have exactly the same problem, no access to the live image from the mobile network since Friday evening, so for four days now. Support is unavailable and no one is calling back.”

I took a closer look at the whole thing. In fact, only the live stream is affected. Videos of recorded events can still be accessed and played back in the Hue app via a mobile connection without any problems. Even more curious: even via third-party WiFi networks without a direct local connection, the live image from the Hue Secure cameras can be opened without any problems.

I also asked Philips Hue directly this evening whether they were already aware of the problems. As soon as I receive a response, possibly even with a solution, I will update this article immediately. Normally, the issue should be resolved promptly.

  1. Just checked – disabled Wifi on my (Android) phone, switched to 5G, opened the Hue app – and the live feed from my wired Hue camera is there without any issues. I’m pretty sure it also worked fine yesterday.

So, it’s either already fixed or not everyone is affected.
