Hue Suggestion: Camera Preview in Room View

Please add this feature

Over the past few months, Philips Hue has significantly revamped the Room View in its app. Among other things, switches, sensors, timers, and automations are now visible alongside lights and scenes. Additionally, the order of the individual segments can now be customized. But that’s not enough for me personally.

To make Hue Secure even more exciting in the future, Philips Hue should also integrate the camera preview into the Room View. So far, you can only access the cameras, the live feed, and recorded events via the Hue Secure section.

However, a tile displaying the most recent recorded camera image—with access to additional functions above it—would also fit perfectly into the room view. This way, you could not only control the lights in the garden but also access the camera feed directly. The same applies, of course, to all other rooms where a Hue Secure camera or doorbell is integrated.

Technically, at least from my perspective, this shouldn’t be a major hurdle. I played around a bit with Pixelmator and integrated the camera tile into the room view. Feel free to leave a comment below and let me know what you think of this idea.

Over the last few years, I've become a real expert when it comes to Hue & HomeKit. I now have over 50 lamps and numerous switches in use. I'm happy to share my experiences with you in my little blog.

  1. I would welcome this feature as I currently have 8 cameras across 7 rooms and this ability would make it easier to view.

On a related note ; is there anywhere on the Hueblog where we could suggest other (simple and I believe feasible) product enhancements?
