On Monday, I was already able to give you the first information about the new Philips Hue Sync TV app for LG TVs. Signify has now officially confirmed the expansion of the Sync app, which was previously only available for Samsung TVs. All LG TVs equipped with at least webOS 24 will receive the new app.
“We’re excited to extend the Philips Hue Sync TV app to LG TVs to make it easier than ever for users to enjoy even better immersive entertainment lighting directly from their TV,” said John Smith. “This partnership underscores our commitment to further connect Philips Hue to the smart home ecosystem.”
The prices are also now official, but there are no big surprises here. The Hue Sync TV app also costs either 129.99 euros one-off (per device) or 2.99 euros per month for LG televisions. These are the same prices as Samsung.
AI-supported lighting, individually designed
Philips Hue introduces the first generative AI assistant in the Hue app, which enables personalized lighting scenes according to mood, occasion or style. The new feature, which will be available from 2025, allows you to give commands via text input or voice to create the perfect atmosphere.
News about Philips Hue Secure
In future, the wired Hue Secure cameras will be able to recognize the warning signal from conventional smoke detectors. You receive an immediate push notification directly on your smartphone and can activate emergency lighting directly from there. With the help of this, all colored Hue lamps and lights in the house can be automatically set to red lighting, which improves visibility in the event of smoke.
And there is also a little bit of new hardware. In March, Philips Hue will be launching a three-meter-long USB-C cable for the Hue Secure cameras, allowing them to be set up even more flexibly. The price will be 19.99 euros and the cable will be available in two different colors to match the cameras.
“New” products launching in North America and Pacific Region
There are also some Hue products that are now making it to other regions following their launch in Europe. Here is a brief overview.
Impress outdoor lights and Datura ceiling panels debut in North America. Impress will start at Mid-February in the U.S. and Canada, the Datura ceiling light is available now.
The Next-gen Play HDMI Sync Box 8K and Hue Solo lightstrip launching in Australia and New Zealand right now.
Philips Hue Datura
from €299 / $299.99
How about:
A new hub with decent amount of devices
System Backup
No need for local button press if logged in
Higher density strip lights
Better switches
and a new hub…;)
I agree!
Of all Hue owners this seem to be a marginal part that benefits from these news. Signify would probably gain more power users with your proposal.
The pricing is ridiculous as stated before.
Already have the Sync Box 8K, but will definitely try out the app assuming it will be available for my LG C2 if/when it gets webOS 24. If the app works well then I’d definitely switch to it as the Sync Box does not work with display led Dolby Vision (only player led/low-latency Dolby Vision).
Holy moly! That is a HUGE disadvantage of the Sync Box 8K: no display-led Dolby Vision. It’s basicly a sh*tbox for the price they are charging for it.
Is there really a big difference between display led Dolby Vision versus player led / low latency Dolby Vision? I have been trying to understand if there is a noticeable disparity, but it’s hard to understand. I can’t seem to find info on what tv models use display led… I have an LG C1 OLED, but I’m not sure if it even does display led Dolby Vision to begin with!
So now I don’t know if I should get this 8k sync box, if low latency Dolby Vision is really all that different :-/. Maybe I will stick to my 4k sync box. The only reason I would be upgrading is to finally use my ps5 through the sync box, since for the time being I’ve never connected to through the 4k sync box (since the old one doesn’t support VRR or 120hz refresh rate.
I have an Lg OLED G3 firmware 23.20.59 and the updated webOS 24 installed.
I Try to search for the app on LG apps and could not find the hue app anywhere so it doesn’t look like it works for LG G3 that’s a shame
The app isn’t yet available, don’t worry.
