Philips Hue makes its cameras up to 70 euros cheaper

Permanent price adjustment downwards

That I can still experience something like this. After the prices of numerous Philips Hue products have continued to rise in recent years, they are now going down. Since 1 October, Philips Hue Secure cameras have been offered at significantly lower prices. The price adjustment is permanent and applies to all markets. Here is a brief overview of the old and new prices for the three camera models.

I was able to discover a small speciality in the USA. An additional sale is running there at the same time as the price adjustment, which makes the cameras a little cheaper over there. In Germany and other European countries, however, the prices mentioned above are likely to apply.

Where did the sudden change of heart come from? I can’t tell you that, of course. However, we’re not talking about a small price adjustment here, but up to 32 per cent. That’s quite a house number.

New firmware for Hue Secure Cameras is also now available

In addition to the price adjustment, Philips Hue has released an update for the cameras. Since the beginning of the week, Philips Hue has been rolling out software version 1.2.24 (842050) for its Hue Secure cameras.

Among other things, a bug when uploading video clips was fixed after privacy mode was reactivated following a restart. Bluetooth activation has also been accelerated and cameras with an integrated battery now update their charge status more reliably.

In practice, the improved threshold value for day and night is more likely to be noticeable, as is the repositioned Hue watermark in the video clips. Security has also been improved: the encryption for transmitting the camera’s public IP address has been strengthened.

The second firmware update in a short space of time

Philips Hue already provided a software update for the Hue Secure cameras at the end of August. At that time, there were many small innovations, which I have of course summarised for you in an article. Among other things, this update fixed numerous connection problems.
