Matter has been with us for several years now. Formerly known as Connected Home over IP or CHIP, the new smart home standard aims to make the connected future much easier. In principle, all the major partners from the electronics world are involved, including Apple, Google, Amazon, Samsung and Ikea. And Signify with Philips Hue and WiZ is also one of Matter’s supporters.
It is now almost exactly ten years since Philips Hue was launched. What started with simple E27 light bulbs has now really grown up. Year after year, the Philips Hue product portfolio has grown, and now you can easily equip your whole house and garden with Philips Hue. But is that the end of the line?

For some time now, it has been possible to define in the lamp settings in the Hue app what should happen after the lamps lose power and are then switched on again. Should the Hue lamp light up in the last setting? Should it stay off if it was off? Or continue in standard white?
I like Philips Hue. No wonder, after all, I have not only equipped almost my entire house with smart light sources from the manufacturer, but I also have a blog dedicated to the topic. In principle, not a day goes by without me dealing with Philips Hue. And these are not only positive stories, but meanwhile also more and more problems.
This afternoon, Philips Hue released another update for its app: Version 4.26.0 is available for download not only for Apple devices, but this time also directly in the Google Play Store. The focus of the update is the presence simulation previously known from Hue Labs, which has now been firmly integrated into the app as “Mimic Presence” automation.

The new Philips Hue Lightguide lamps were officially announced for the fourth quarter of the year, i.e. between October and December. At the beginning of the month, however, Philips Hue was still assuming that they would be able to do it sooner. This is confirmed by information available to me as well as official statements from Philips Hue via the support channels.
The Philips Hue Perifo track system was officially launched this week. The availability is still quite modest, but this should improve considerably in the course of the next few weeks. I have been using one of the available Perifo bundles for over a month now – and would like to give you a short summary today.
Today, the Philips Hue Perifo track system is officially launched. In the official Philips Hue online shop, numerous bundles are already listed, but you can’t order the Perifo sets and individual parts yet. Other retailers, such as Click-Licht.de, promise availability only in about four weeks. However, I did discover one interesting detail: The ceiling power supply of the Perifo track system has a small cap on the side that can be easily removed if you want to disconnect the power supply “externally”.
Above the bedside tables of my wife and me there are currently three White Ambiance Filament Edison bulbs from Philips Hue. Compared to the White Filaments, the white tone is already much more pleasant, but unfortunately one other thing has not improved: The minimal brightness. In normal everyday life, this is not a problem, whereby the emphasis here is clearly on the day.
