This week Signify introduced a new generation of Philips Hue Iris. The mood light is a true icon and was introduced almost 10 years ago as the LivingColors model, almost as long ago the Iris is also available as a Hue model. The light strip is intended to be mounted behind the TV and can display several colours at the same time to create a real ambilight feeling in combination with Hue Entertainment – no matter which TV you use.
Already in August I could report that Philips Hue is planning a new edition of the Iris. Mood lighting is one of the real long-running favourites and was already a LivingColors product almost 10 years ago, and has been part of the Hue family for several years. But before you completely freak out and start looking for this new release in your next online store, I have to slow you down a bit: The new Play Gradient LightStrip unfolds its full capabilities only in combination with the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box or the Hue Sync App for Mac and Windows.
Actually, I assumed that Philips Hue would not present its new products until Thursday. However, Philips Hue has already presented the first two new products at the Smart Home League event, in which other well-known brands such as Tado and Ring also took part.
