This summer, Philips Hue launched two new ceiling lights on the market. The first is the premium model, the Philips Hue Datura, with two separately controllable light sources. The round ceiling light is currently available in two sizes. This was followed shortly afterwards by the Philips Hue Tento in various round versions, where the manufacturer’s focus is on the comparatively low price.
I already mentioned that Philips Hue will be focusing heavily on software development this autumn. This will probably include the introduction of four new effects that will allow your smart lamps to light up even more dynamically. Unfortunately, I can’t tell you exactly when the four new effects will be introduced.
Even after the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box 8K appeared at an Italian retailer in July, there were still doubts in some parts of the community that the second generation would be available soon. After all, the first ‘leaks’ appeared well over a year ago, some of which were mistaken for a Photoshop fake.
The Philips Hue software team really can’t be accused of being idle this year. After numerous app updates, there is now a new firmware for the Hue Secure cameras with numerous improvements and bug fixes. One new feature sounds very promising, but I haven’t been able to try it out myself yet.
After a steady stream of small new functions in recent weeks, such as starting automations via switches, an integrated search for rooms, zones and light sources, or automatic alarms for the Hue Secure System, today’s update for the Philips Hue app leaves us empty-handed. For the sake of completeness, however, I would like to mention the update to version 5.24 of the Philips Hue app.
At the beginning of July, Signify, the manufacturer of Philips Hue, announced its partnership with the Mercedes Formula 1 team. At least in sporting terms, things have been going more than brilliantly since then, with two victories after a long dry spell. But what exactly does Signify want to achieve with the partnership?
If you don’t just want original Philips Hue lamps, then the Dutch manufacturer Innr has now launched four new models that could be of interest to you. There are new filament lamps with a special focus on design, which can be easily connected to the Hue Bridge thanks to Zigbee. The LED bulbs are made of real glass with a golden coating.
At the end of July, I already provided you with some details about the Philips Hue Tento. In the meantime, I have been able to gather my own impressions of the upcoming ceiling light from Philips Hue. The new model aims to score points above all with its comparatively low price.
Today Philips Hue has released another update for its official app, version 5.23 is now available for download in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. And as I’m still on holiday, I’ll keep it short and sweet today. Here’s an overview of the new functions: You can now start and stop the Go to sleep automation from your Hue Dimmer switches and Smart buttons.
With the iOS app iConnectHue (App Store-Link), you can control your smart lighting system even more conveniently and benefit from many additional functions. The developer is always on the ball and is now delivering the next update to version 5.6, which is now available for download. Support for Hue Twilight: iConnectHue is the first 3rd party app to fully support the Hue Twilight.
