FabianLast week, numerous new Hue products already leaked, including at Home Depot in Canada. Just a few days before the official launch, the North American retailer is now giving us another glimpse of what’s to come: The first details about the Philips Hue Liane 360° Rope Light have emerged.
In the product images, this new release looks truly spectacular. Philips Hue originally used the name “Liane” for a simple wall sconce, but with the addition of “360°,” it has now become a real “Liane” that even Tarzan could only have dreamed of. The rope light glows all around, and thanks to OmniGlow technology, no individual light points are visible.
“Its 360° glow complements and subtly enhances the architectural wall and ceiling lines of your home, creating a refined expression of your personal style,” according to the product description. “Add subtle character to living spaces and the home office by running it up walls and along ceiling lines. Mount it over desks and shape the rope light to create a unique focal point.”

The new rope light will be available in at least two lengths: 3 and 5 meters; product pages for these variants have already been created on Home Depot’s website. The longer light tube achieves a maximum brightness of 4,000 lumens at 6,500 Kelvin, which works out to 800 lumens per meter. That’s really quite bright.
The product pages also reveal other interesting details. The Hue Liane 360° comes with various mounts so the light tube can be flexibly installed on the ceiling. If the 3- or 5-meter lengths don’t quite fit your needs, it can also be cut to size.
Unfortunately, prices aren’t listed on Home Depot’s website yet, but it probably won’t be a bargain. The basic 5-meter Hue OmniGlow light strip already costs 199.99 euros.
