New Hue Lucca Launches & New Shop Design at Philips Hue

Here Are the Updates

Things are picking up again at Philips Hue this week. Before the Bright Days kick off in two days—hopefully with some great deals—there’s another updated product. As announced a few weeks ago, the Hue Lucca outdoor lights have been equipped with a new bulb.

In Europe, the Hue Lucca—available as a wall light, floor lamp, and path light—was previously only available with a standard Hue White bulb, whereas in North America it came with a colored bulb. Effective immediately, the Hue Lucca in Germany and other European countries is equipped with the latest 1,100-lumen White and Color Ambiance bulb, which is also Matter over Thread-compatible.

You can choose between the Hue Lucca wall light for €99.99, the Hue Lucca pedestal light for €129.99, and the slightly taller Hue Lucca path light for €159.99. What I find quite interesting here is that, despite a major bulb upgrade, the prices for the wall light and pedestal light have remained the same. The price of the path light has risen moderately by 10 euros.

New design in the Philips Hue online store

If you visit one of the product pages in the Philips Hue online store, you might notice the updated design. The product pages are now designed to be much more compact and are no longer extremely long.

The detailed product information is now displayed via a slide-over menu, which takes some getting used to—especially in desktop view—since only a small portion of the screen is used to display the data. On mobile devices like the iPhone, the technical specifications are displayed in full-screen mode.

Is this an improvement or a step backward? I’m not entirely sure yet. Those who rarely visit Philips Hue might not even notice a difference.
