Philips Hue continues to work on its products. While I unfortunately still have no information about what the new software version 1.145.2 entails for an increasing number of lights, the manufacturer is releasing another update for the Hue Secure cameras.
Software version 1.3.1.1294140 is being rolled out starting today. The update notes state: “Fixed an issue that could cause onboarding to fail for some users.”
Onboarding had actually already been addressed in the penultimate update. “Reduced onboarding failures due to network connection issues,” the release notes stated back in March. So if you’re actually experiencing issues and can’t complete the setup of your Hue Secure camera, hopefully these two updates will help.
Hue Secure Video Doorbell remains my favorite
While I haven’t really warmed up to the standard Philips Hue security cameras so far, the video doorbell remains my favorite. In my opinion, it stands out not only for its super-easy-to-set-up light alert but also for its very fast response time.
Previously, I used doorbells from Aqara and Eufy. Neither manufacturer managed to get the doorbell chime inside the house or the push notifications on the iPhone working as quickly as Philips Hue does. Activating the live stream also takes just a few seconds.
With upcoming updates, Philips Hue will continue to improve the video doorbell. Among other things, automatic voice responses through the doorbell’s speaker and optional video calls instead of simple push notifications are on the to-do list.
