Philips Hue Festavia Permanent: All the info you need before the European launch

Black is exclusive to the US

Next month, Philips Hue will launch a new product category in Germany and other European countries: Permanent Lights. These light installations, which are installed under the eaves, are particularly popular in the US. That’s why Philips Hue Festavia Permanent has already been available there for several weeks.

Before it launches here in December, I would like to provide you with the most important information in advance. This way, if you are interested, you can start planning and then jump right in as soon as Hue Festavia Permanent launches in Europe.

Hue Festavia Permanent

$399.99

The ultimate year-round décor. Personalize your home’s exterior for any occasion, any season, and any mood with a string of bright, color-capable light pods. These IP65 weatherproof lights are easy to install under eaves, along rooflines, or on façades.

The differences to the offer in the US

Hue Festavia Permanent is already available in the US. There are two different lengths to choose from: 27 meters for $399.99 and 45 meters for $599.99. We can already see that it’s not necessarily a bargain.

In Europe, the offer will be slightly different. The Hue Festavia Permanent starter set with power supply and a length of 18 meters will cost €299.99. Nine-meter extensions are available for €119.99.

In addition, the Hue Festavia Permanent will only be available in white in Europe. In the US, the permanent string of lights is also available in black.

How to install the Hue Festavia Permanent

Philips Hue naturally relies on the 12-volt system for this outdoor product as well. The Hue Festavia Permanent comes with the familiar 40-watt power supply.

There is a light point approximately every 55 centimeters. These are either attached with two small screws or, alternatively, with a 3M adhesive pad.

The string of lights can be extended up to 45 meters. The Hue Festavia Permanent can also be shortened after each of the small “pods,” but it cannot be extended again afterwards.

This is how the permanently installed string of lights shines

Each element of the string of lights can shine with a brightness of 50 lumens. That doesn’t sound like much, but the mass makes up for it. Up to 80 light points are possible – and then you get a bright 4,000 lumens.

Similar to the other Festavia models, each LED can theoretically be controlled individually. Philips Hue makes control quite easy with the familiar gradient function, the selection points in the color wheel, and numerous scenes, effects, and modes.

Ultimately, however, it is mood lighting for the home. It is certainly not that widespread in Europe yet. I have already seen some installations from the US on social networks such as Reddit, some of which are really impressive. Unfortunately, my house is completely unsuitable. How about yours?

    1. Permanent for permanently installed the whole year 😉

You can move them, but it’s not intended.

  1. I have a lot of Hue products and I’m aware of high price tag, but 299€ for 18m string is just a joke, especially comparing with Govee Outdoor Pro or Asahom s1080.
    Very disappointing.

  2. Link to a single user review with real video of this product and not AI? How does Phillips really launch a product this expensive without at least a single video of the product… ya know one single solitary real life video of the product in use? For this price tag? Common…
