In a few weeks Philips Hue will release a completely new app for iPhone, iPad and Android devices. I’ve already given you some general info and a first look at the improved entertainment areas, but today we want to take a look at the automations. In any case, this is the new name of the previous routines.
There’s one number we’ve gotten used to over the past few years: 806 lumens. That’s how bright classic E27 bulbs from Philips Hue are. With the new 1,600 lumen bright Hue White, this value was significantly exceeded for the first time, but this lamp can not colors or different shades of white and is also much larger to ensure cooling.
As I could tell you a little more than a week ago, Signify is currently working on Philips Hue 4.0 – a new app with a revised design and many new features. In addition to a new tile view, there will also be a quick option to switch between multiple bridges.
The current Philips Hue app was released almost exactly five years ago. So it feels like an eternity ago, especially when you consider the rapid development around the topic smart home. But today I have good news for you: Signify is working on a completely revised version of the Philips Hue app.
Philips Hue has now been on the market for almost ten years and is currently the clear number one when it comes to smart lighting. But the manufacturer from the Netherlands certainly cannot rest on its laurels. It is about time to pick up the pace again – because the last really big update of the Hue app was back in April 2016.
Today it’s time again for a little poll. I would like to know which Philips Hue product you would like to see the most. After all, there are a few things that are not yet available – and some of them are not from third-party suppliers either. I am therefore curious to know what your favourites are.

It is not a big surprise, because already in February I could provide you with the relevant information. Now, however, we can report a full train: The “T-connector for Low Volt” as well as the “Outdoor cable extension 2.5 m” can now also be ordered individually at a price of 11.49 euros each in the online store of Philips Hue.

Soon the Philips Hue wall switch module will be available in stores. Although “in stores” is perhaps not quite the right expression, because as already announced, the new accessory will initially be sold exclusively directly at Philips Hue. In Germany and also in other European countries, the wall switch module will only be sold by other retailers in about three months, starting in calendar week 19.
It shouldn’t be too much time until the Philips Hue Wall Switch Module is available in stores. Unfortunately, Signify has not yet communicated an exact launch date for the product, which was introduced in January, but officially it should be ready in spring (in Europe). However, thanks to a reader’s email from the Netherlands, I can already show you how exactly the new module is configured in the Hue app.
It has been almost two weeks since I first reported on two more products that might appear: The T-part for the Philips Hue low-voltage system, which was previously only available as a bundle with the 2.5-metre extension cable, will soon also be available separately. The same applies to the cable itself.
