Philips Hue has today released another update for its app, which is now available to download in version 5.4. This update focuses on small improvements to Hue Secure. For example, you can now use two filters for events in the timeline. You can use a drop-down menu to filter the events by date or device.
Yesterday afternoon, Philips Hue released another update for its app. The official application for controlling your smart lights is now available in version 5.3.1. The latest update brings “various bug fixes and stability improvements”. I’ve gone through the entire app several times now, but haven’t noticed any changes so far. A community post by Jenaih brought a rather interesting story to my attention. He writes in his comment: “Am I the only one who noticed that the effects Candle, Fireplace and Prism also run on Hue lamps without Bluetooth?” I can now answer this question with a partially “yes”. But let’s start from the beginning.
With the launch of the Philips Hue App 5.0, the Dutch manufacturer has introduced a new Security Center. Just in time for the launch of the Philips Hue Secure cameras, mine made its way yesterday evening, the manufacturer has released another update for its app. From now on you can download Philips Hue version 5.2 from the App Store or Google Play Store. You can count the new stuff on two or three fingers this time.
If you have lost a power cable of a light strip or need new mounts for your Lightbars, Philips Hue now has the right spare parts on offer. After the announcement in September, the official spare parts can now be ordered in the Hue online shop. For example, you can get mounts for the Philips Hue Play Gradient Light Strip including new adhesive strips or a charging station for the Hue Go.
In a little more than three weeks it will be time for Halloween. And what is still a relatively small affair here in Germany is celebrated in the USA, for example. Of course, you can provide the right lighting with Philips Hue. The Halloween scenes launched last year are now available again in the Philips Hue app.
I actually didn’t think it would be such a big deal: Philips Hue wants to make registration with an account for the in-house system mandatory. I have always used Philips Hue with an account, but many of you actually don’t want to. In a small survey, more than 60 percent of the participating readers said they would prefer to use the Hue system without an account.
I’m ready for the weekend and ready for my holiday. Starting Monday, I’m disappearing to Greece for a few days. But I will still keep at least half an eye on Philips Hue in the meantime, among other things the launch of the Hue Secure cameras is coming up.
