If you’ve been eagerly awaiting one or even both of the new models since the announcement of the new Philips Hue outdoor light strips, then I’m afraid I have some good news and some bad news for you. The good news is that I’ve already received both models to test. The bad news is that you’ll have to wait a little longer.

The Philips Hue Flux Gradient Outdoor Lightstrip and the Philips Hue Neon Gradient Outdoor Lightstrip were originally scheduled to launch in October 2025. Unfortunately, that won’t be possible, and the launch date for the two new weatherproof light strips in Europe is now set for mid-November. For the US, the launch date will remain March 2026.

I haven’t unpacked the two new models yet, but I’ll do that this afternoon to add a little Halloween decoration. Both light strips offer a gradient function, which was previously unavailable from Philips Hue for outdoor use.

Hue Flux for outdoor use

The Hue Flux Gradient Outdoor Lightstrip is likely to use the same LED strip as the Indoor Flux, but adapted with a power supply for outdoor use. Of course, the familiar 12-volt system from Philips Hue is used here. The outdoor light strip is designed for installation in places that are not directly visible. It will be available in three different versions:

  • 5 meters for €149.99: 3,000 lumens at 30 watts
  • 6 meters for €169.99: 3,000 lumens at 30 watts
  • 10 meters for €249.99: 3,000 lumens at 30 watts

The Flux outdoor strip light enhances gardens, patios and front porches with a vibrant decorative ambience. Conceal the strip for an indirect wall washing effect for façades, walls and fences. Installing this weatherproof strip light is simple – connect to a standard socket with the included low-volt power supply or integrate with your existing low-volt set-up.

Hue Neon is the direct successor to the previous Outdoor Lightstrip

The Hue Neon Gradient Outdoor Lightstrip appears to be similar in design to the previous outdoor light strip from Philips Hue. However, it no longer shines quite as brightly, so something must have changed inside. Instead of the previous 2 and 5 meters, the following three versions will be available in November.

  • 3 meters for €139.99: 1,100 lumens at 30 watts
  • 5 meters for €199.99: 1,100 lumens at 30 watts
  • 10 meters for €349.99: 1,100 lumens at 30 watts

Over the next few days, I’ll think about where exactly I can best install the two light strips in my small garden. I’ll share more impressions when the product launches at the latest.
