Philips Hue OmniGlow Lightstrip now also available in Europe

The best light strip yet

After its early launch in the US, the Philips Hue OmniGlow Lightstrip is now also available in Germany and other European countries. After my first test, I can say quite clearly that it is by far the best light strip that Philips Hue has built to date. This thing is amazing; even the competition from Govee looks old in comparison.

However, you’ll have to dig a little deeper into your pockets when it comes to price. The Hue OmniGlow is available in three different lengths and costs at least $139.99. Here is a brief overview of the available versions. You may have to switch back and forth between the lengths for the shopping cart button to appear.

  • 3 meters for €139.99: 2,700 lumens at a maximum of 40 watts
  • 5 meters for €199.99: 4,500 lumens at a maximum of 60 watts
  • 10 meters for €349.99: 4,500 lumens at a maximum of 60 watts

But we mustn’t forget what it looked like just a few months ago. At that time, the Hue Ambiance Gradient Lightstrip was the best light strip from Philips Hue, and we paid €159.99 for it – but only got 2 meters with up to 1,800 lumens. Each 100-centimeter extension cost €64.99, but the brightness did not increase any further. Technically, the Hue OmniGlow is therefore significantly more advanced.

The technology of the Philips Hue OmniGlow Lightstrip in detail

The new Hue OmniGlow Lightstrip is the first to use CSP (Chip Scale Packaging) technology. This results in a significantly higher LED density, meaning that the light strip has virtually no visible light points.

The Hue OmniGlow is divided into 12.5-centimeter-long sections, with 21 LED modules installed in each section. Each of these modules consists of a total of five LEDs for red, green, blue, warm white, and cool white. This means there are 840 individual LEDs per meter.

You can also shorten the Hue OmniGlow Lightstrip every 12.5 centimeters, but unlike the Hue Flux light strip, once you cut it, you can’t reconnect the pieces. Unfortunately, there are also no accessories for 90-degree corners for the OmniGlow.

  1. Hello, can I connect multiple philips hue omniglow striplights to my samsung hue app tv around my livingroom? Thankyou for your time

    1. Fabian already commented on that topic in lastest Omniglow post.
In theory you can attach it but you won’t get the same functionality because only one/single side of the TV will be working.

  2. Can you dim the omniglow sufficiently using the app? Planning to install the Omniglow in sight in the kitchen which is part of the living room. In the evening we want dimmed, warm colours. Thanks!

  3. Hi Fabian, thank you for the information. You mention there’s no accessories for 90 degree join, does this mean you feel it is not possible to mount them e.g. under a cabinet across a 90 degree corner? Thanks!

  4. Is it possible that there is a mistake in your article concerning the lumen for 10m version? The Philips Hue website states that it is 6000 lumen, just like the Flux Ultrabright 10m. In your article you mention that it is 4800 lumen, the same as for the 5m version.

    1. Could you send me a link to the page where you found that information? I just looked it up in the german Hue Shop and there it says 4.500lm at 6500k for both 5m and 10m.
