Since I didn’t make any progress on my wall washer story today, I used the time to click through the Hueblog community a little. Among other things, I noticed a question about the wall switch module that I would like to answer in detail – maybe some of you are facing a similar challenge.
It’s a question that keeps coming back to me in various ways. It’s about ceiling lighting that still has a dimmer on the switch. What is a great thing for classic halogen or LED lamps and increases convenience is absolute poison for Philips Hue. One of the letters comes from Hueblog reader Frank.
It was one of the big topics when the Philips Hue wall switch module was introduced in spring 2021: The integrated battery. Many users would have preferred a fixed connection to the mains, but Philips Hue opted for a button cell. With the CR2450, the power supply should be guaranteed for 5 years.
The Hue wall switch module has been available for almost three years now and I’m still very fond of this little thing. It’s exactly what I was missing in my Hue installation back then. Instead of repeatedly struggling with the problem of the classic light switch disabling the smart ceiling lighting, I have now converted numerous light switches in my home with the wall switch module.
In my opinion, the Philips Hue wall switch module is one of the best accessories for the smart lighting system. It solves the problem of ceiling lighting being disconnected from the power supply and turns the classic switch on the wall, where everyone knows how to operate it, into a smart switch.
In my opinion, the Hue Wall Switch Module is one of the best extensions for the Hue system. It not only solves the light switch problem, but can also be configured individually. In our (german) community there is a rather exciting question about this, which I would like to take care of for you today.

For some time now, it has been possible to define in the lamp settings in the Hue app what should happen after the lamps lose power and are then switched on again. Should the Hue lamp light up in the last setting? Should it stay off if it was off? Or continue in standard white?

I really wouldn’t have expected this a little over a week ago. After it looked really bad for weeks around the availability of the Philips Hue wall switch module, the tide has suddenly turned. Since the weekend, the popular new release, which could only be ordered on a few days since March, is consistently available for order in the German online store of Philips Hue.
