Philips Hue has once again released updates for its in-house app and for its control hubs. Updates are available for both the Hue Bridge Pro and the second-generation Hue Bridge. But let’s start with a quick look at the App Store. Version 6.2.0 has been available for download this week in both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
It could have been so great this month at Philips Hue: lots of new products, plus a “Glow-Up Sale” in their online store. But some things just weren’t made a big deal of. Like a secret price hike on many products that hit the market in 2025. The Hue Bridge Pro in Europe is particularly affected.
People have been asking for this feature for years, and now it’s almost here. Even though there isn’t a specific launch date yet, Philips Hue has officially unveiled the “Backup & Restore” feature. The control hubs are also already being prepared for the launch of the new products.
When some Hue users discovered in June that their Hue Bridge Pro had stopped working after an update, it caused quite a stir. Philips Hue identified the issue relatively quickly and, according to its own statements, determined that fewer than 100 devices worldwide were affected. So the damage was limited, even though the situation was, of course, extremely frustrating for affected users.
