A visit to Ikea is worth it twice this month. Next week there will be a new Sonos speaker and four new light bulbs from the Trådfri series are already available. Today I would like to take a look at the new ZigBee lamps with frosted glass. In my opinion, these are a real eye-catcher.
Signify has had to take some criticism around the major update of the Hue app. In particular, the omission of widgets and timers has not gone down particularly well with the community. But also in some other places, more clicks have recently become necessary than it was the case in the old app.
On Thursday I was able to give you a first preview: In autumn, Philips Hue will make its lamps a whole lot brighter. The sixth generation of the standard light bulb will then offer up to 1,100 lumens, previously 806 lumens were possible. There will also be an even brighter bulb with an E27 base that will offer up to 1,600 lumens.
We still have to be patient for about two months until Philips Hue will officially present its new products. Today I can already give you a small preview of some of the new products that will be presented at the end of August or beginning of September. As we already suspected a few weeks ago, Philips Hue is working on brighter light sources.
In the past few months I have been able to inform you in detail about the Philips Hue Wall Switch Module. Now there is good news for all users from the USA: The wall switch module is now also available in the United States. Philips Hue announced this in the spring.
It is now more than ten years since George Yianni had an idea that inspires us every day. Back then, at Philips Lighting, which now goes by the name Signify, he developed a web application to control Living Colors lamps. What was supposed to be a simple solution to avoid having to spend weeks building prototypes of real remote controls ended up being a whole new product.
At the beginning of March, I received the Philips Hue Wall Switch Module just in time for the market launch, which then went really wrong. Now almost four months have passed – and I would like to tell you a little about my experiences. I have installed three wall switch modules so far.
If you currently take a look at the German Ikea online shop and search for filament lamps, you will discover the following notice for the previously known E27 lamp: “Last chance! Only available for a short time.” Today I can tell you what this means. A new version will soon be available instead of the previous “golden” bulb.
A small warning to Android users: The Philips Hue app is currently not available in the Google Play Store. So if you want to reinstall the app, you currently have bad cards – the previous download link leads to an error message. I’ve already knocked on Signify’s door to find out why the app is currently unavailable.
