A few weeks ago I already showed you that it is relatively easy to remove the LED modules and the control units from a Philips Hue lamp – I used the Philips Hue Discover, which I replaced the outdoor floodlight on the terrace with a Hue Impress. With this little food for thought, Hueblog reader Uwe set out to convert a floor lamp.
One thing we want so much for the Philips Hue LightStrip Plus: That it can display more than one color at a time. Unfortunately, Signify has not fulfilled this wish with the new generation of the LightStrip – but at least we can now reconnect cut-off parts with the LightStrip Plus.
I'm sure you've stumbled across Hue Labs before. This special section of the Philips Hue App often contains special, useful and nice beta features that have not yet become an integral part of the Hue App. This way you get additional functions for lamps, sensors and switches to get even more out of the Hue system.
Yesterday evening Alexa Live took place, Amazon's developer event around the well-known language wizard. At the purely digital event, 31 new tools and functions were presented, among other things, with which developers can further improve their Alexa skills in the future. Sometimes I hear stories about Philips Hue where you can only touch your head. Currently at the top of the hit list is the Philips Hue Outdoor LightStrip, one of the most popular outdoor products. Launched almost two years ago, the Outdoor LightStrip has been available in two different versions since then: for 89.95 euros you could get two meters of light strip, for 159.95 euros even five meters.
The Friends of Hue switches from Senic have been available for about a year now. In my opinion, the switches produced in cooperation with Gira are still the most exciting alternative – even if the technology inside is of course identical to other models. Why? In my opinion, Senic provides the best experience for the end user.
At the beginning of the month I could announce that Innr will launch a new light strip. The Innr Flex Light for indoor use will be available in three different versions until the end of July, I could already get a first impression. The following three models are available: Innr Flex Light 120 C with 2 meters length and plug for 49,99 Euro Innr Flex Light 140 C with 4 meters length and plug for 69,99 Euro Innr Flex Light 140 C /LD with 2 meters length and LED driver without plug for 69,99 Euro Compared to the previous Innr Flex Light, there is one major difference in addition to the new, shorter version: The old light strip with a length of four meters had two “ends” and could be connected to the controller with both ends after cutting through.
The smart brand Tint from Müller-Licht should be well known to you by now. Besides the new outdoor products, a new E27 globe lamp with up to 1,520 lumens brightness will be launched in the coming weeks. We have already had a closer look at the bulb, which will be available in stores for 34.95 euros.
At CES, Signify already introduced three new partners for the Friends of Hue program in January. While Voltus has already launched its switch and we from Insta are still waiting for news, we are now working on the third new partner. The switch manufacturer Jung wants to start with its Friends of Hue switches in August and will offer two different models, which of course only differ visually.
In June, Philips Hue presented several new products, including the new Hue Centris ceiling lamp and the new generation of Hue Bloom. After the new outdoor releases in January, the second batch followed relatively early – which leads me to believe that there could well be something in September or October.
