We really don’t need to discuss that Philips Hue is expensive fun. But apparently expensive is not yet expensive enough. After the prices were already increased in January 2021 for outdoor products and then in May for almost all other Hue devices, the next price increase is now imminent. According to my information, Philips Hue will adjust its official price recommendations again on February 1st 2023 – upwards.
The new Philips Hue Lightguide series with the iconic light bulb design was supposed to be launched at the end of September. The first products were also shipped at that time – until increased problems with condensation inside the glass globes were discovered. After that, sales were stopped completely. Now there is good news: At least one of the three Lightguide models is available again.
It had been announced for a long time, but now the time has come: If you use the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box, you no longer have to use the Hue Sync App to control it. With the update to version 4.31, the functions have been integrated into the Sync section of the Hue app.
I actually haven’t written about the new Philips Hue Festavia string light for two weeks, so let’s change that today. I couldn’t bring myself to do an ultimate test yet, also because I don’t know yet how exactly to evaluate the product. But I can already answer one question: I like the fairy lights very much.

Yesterday I reported that the new Philips Hue Festavia light chain always consumes between 16 and 17 watts of power, regardless of whether you have white or coloured light activated at 1 or 100 percent. This is partly due to the fact that voltage must be applied to each LED at all times and the LED segments are connected in a series-parallel combination.
Since the announcement of the new Philips Hue string light Festavia on Thursday, more and more details have come to light. Among other things, I have already compared the new release with the well-known Twinkly string light. One point that bothered me a lot: Philips Hue Festavia (Online-Shop) is only suitable for indoor use.
Yesterday, Philips Hue introduced its first light chain, and as of today, Festavia can be ordered directly from Philips Hue’s online store for 159.99 euros. In the smart home market, there is one competitor in particular that specialized in fairy lights years ago: Twinkly. Today, I would like to take a look with you at the advantages and disadvantages of the two products and who might come out on top in the end.
Today Philips Hue introduced its first chain of lights, the Festavia. And the manufacturer from Eindhoven assures that they are ready for the Christmas season: from Friday, 11 November 2022, the Philips Hue Festavia should be available for order in the official online shop. Delivery should then take place the following week.
