FabianIn recent years, Philips Hue has consistently unveiled new products in conjunction with the major electronics trade show IFA. It’s that time of year again in Berlin in early September. Philips Hue won’t be represented at the trade show itself; it will likely be an off-site event. In recent years, this has always taken place on Wednesday evening, which would be September 2.
Philips Hue has already given us a first glimpse of what might be coming through various “leaks” over the past few weeks. I’d like to give you an overview of what we already know.
These Philips Hue products are likely to be unveiled in September
Hue Play Screen Sync: A small camera that sits on top of the TV and analyzes the TV picture to synchronize the lights in the entertainment area accordingly. It’s likely to be significantly cheaper than the Hue Sync Box. (Read article)
Hue Play Gradient Lightstrip Pro: We don’t know much more than the name yet, but it gives us a good idea of what to expect. There will likely be an improved light strip designed to be mounted behind the TV. Maybe it will even feature OmniGlow technology? (Read article)
Hue Festavia: The string light family is growing. Philips Hue is expected to introduce three new models: Curtain, Icicle, and Net. (Read article)
Hue Go XXL: Formerly an April Fools’ joke, but now likely a product coming soon. Designed in the familiar style, the XXL version of the Hue Go is set to be large enough to serve as a lounge table. (Read article)
Hue Semeru Outdoor Light: Rather unspectacular, but I don’t want to completely overlook this discovery either. New wall lights for outdoor use have been announced. (Read article)
Hue Wall Modules: A blog post from June has almost been forgotten. I was sent two icons from the Hue app, possibly by a beta tester. In addition to the Hue Go XXL, another icon shows hexagonal LED panels that are very reminiscent of Nanoleaf. Unfortunately, that’s all I know about it so far. (Read article)
There are still a little over three weeks until IFA, so maybe there will even be more to come. But I really think we have an exciting fall ahead of us.
