In July, Philips Hue launched a new ceiling light in Europe. The Hue Devote was initially available exclusively on Amazon and was not even offered in the official Hue online store. That has now changed, as Philips Hue has added the Devote to its own product range as of today. Other online retailers are expected to follow suit at a later date.
The Hue Devote is available in two different sizes. The Hue Devote S has a diameter of 30 centimeters and produces up to 2,000 lumens, while the Hue Devote M has a diameter of 43 centimeters and produces up to 2,900 lumens. Both models feature White and Color Ambiance and can therefore also display colors.
Hue Devote is a more affordable ceiling light than the Hue Tento
Except for one small detail, the Devote is identical to the Hue Tento, which has been available since 2024. The latter has a transparent ring on the top of the housing through which light shines onto the ceiling. You have to do without this feature with the Hue Devote ceiling light, but you can save a little money in return. While the 29.1-centimeter, colored Hue Tento with 2,250 lumens costs $109.99, the small Hue Devote is available for just $79.99. The large model is also $30 cheaper than the comparable Hue Tento version.
With a maximum size of 43 centimeters and a maximum brightness of 2,900 lumens, the Hue Devote alone may not necessarily be suitable for huge living rooms. However, it is a great solution for hallways, guest bathrooms, or other smaller rooms. Especially if you want to use colored light from time to time.
Compared to more expensive models such as the Enrave, Aurelle, or Surimu, savings were made primarily in the housing. It is made of simple plastic rather than aluminum. However, you usually only touch a ceiling light like this during installation—and then probably not again for years.
