The Philips Hue Essential Flex was supposed to be released in December, but that’s not going to happen. Now that the simple Hue Essential Lightstrip has been launched in the US, at least, we’ll have to wait a little longer for its decorative sibling. The Hue Essential Flex is not yet available, but it will probably be ready in the first quarter of 2026.
Let’s first take a look at what we already know. The light strip is intended for decorative purposes and, similar to the outdoor light strip, can be bent sideways. The Hue Essential Flex features gradient technology, but without white LEDs. However, this model is not intended for proper lighting; it is more of a mood light.
Philips Hue will launch two models of the Hue Essential Flex. You can choose between 5 meters for $99.99 and 10 meters for $169.99. Here you can find an overview of all the new light strips from Philips Hue.
10-meter Philips Hue Essential Flex light strip is divided into two parts
The 10-meter version has an interesting technical feature: the light strip is divided into two 5-meter pieces. These are connected behind the Zigbee controller with a Y-cable. Simple plug-and-screw connections are also used, as they appear to be in the Hue Festavia Permanent.
Although the 10-meter Hue Essential Flex is divided into two parts, it is recognized as a single light strip by the Hue app. In this case, the Y-connection is essentially the middle of the light strip. You should definitely keep this in mind when planning your installation—you cannot simply lay 10 meters of this light strip in one piece.
For individual design and to create a shape on the wall, 25 mounting clips are included in the scope of delivery for every 5 meters. I’m already excited to see what ideas you come up with.
