Hueblog: New firmware for the Hue Bridge and Hue Secure camera

New firmware for the Hue Bridge and Hue Secure camera

This is what's happening at Philips Hue

I’m using my time on the train home to bring you up to date on the latest software developments. Yesterday, we had our team meeting in Hanover, and on Thursday, we had the Philips Hue Christmas dinner in Hamburg. There, I actually picked up two previously announced items that are not yet available for purchase. But more on that next week.

Today, I’m going to take a look back at the past few days and some firmware updates that Philips Hue is currently rolling out. Among them is the new Hue Bridge Pro.

Software version 2071153010 has been rolling out since December 8. This gives the Hue Bridge Pro support for migrating multiple Hue Bridges. Of course, the “old” Hue Bridge is also being prepared for multiple migrations, with software version 1974142030 available since December 8. In addition, the following statement has been released for both models: “We have made a few small changes in the background to make your Hue Bridge run even better.”

The next generation of the Hue smart hub. Powered by a chip that’s capable of running complex algorithms and AI-powered features, it’s faster and stronger than ever. Turn your lights into motion sensors with MotionAware, use your security and lights together, and more.

Even more battery optimizations for the Hue Secure camera

For Hue Secure cameras, a seemingly never-ending story enters the next round. Once again, there are optimizations for the battery: “A problem has been fixed where the battery camera could restart in very cold temperatures, improving the reliability of the live view,” Philips Hue reports. In addition, the setup, which was faulty for some users, has been improved so that it now runs more smoothly.

There should be more official news about the Hue Secure Camera with battery soon, as an improved model with 2K resolution is in the starting blocks. As is well known, Philips Hue presents its new products in January, June, and September.
