The latest firmware update for the Hue Bridge Pro appears to be causing significant problems for some users. In addition to the posts on Reddit, I’ve also received a handful of emails from you.
On Thursday, Philips Hue released another update for its official app, as it does nearly every two weeks. There are no new features this time, but there are a few minor optimizations. First up are the new wired wall switch modules. These could already be paired with version 5.69, but now some translations and details have likely been further improved.
Complaints are currently piling up online, not just in our small community, but also on Reddit and in App Store reviews. After the latest update to version 5.69, the Philips Hue app seems to regularly lose its connection to the Hue Bridge. What is currently known about this, and how can the issue be resolved?
Just in time for the upcoming start of the World Cup in Mexico, Canada, and the U.S., Philips Hue has released another update for its app. And for good reason: this update unlocks the new Sports Live feature. As previously explained in detail, you can use it to make your lights glow in sync with game events during the World Cup.
It’s truly remarkable how much effort Philips Hue is putting into developing the new Hue Bridge Pro. Since its launch in September, there has been at least one software update every month. June, which has just begun, is no exception, as Philips Hue is already rolling out a new software version today.
There’s another new update for the Philips Hue app available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Version 5.68.0 is available for free download for all users. In addition to the usual bug fixes, there’s also a new feature. “You can now edit a scene directly while previewing it from the Scene Gallery”, according to the update description for iPhone and iPad.
For comprehensive configuration of your entire Philips Hue setup, the paid iConnectHue app for iPhone and iPad continues to offer the most features. German developer Stefan Göhler has been hard at work again in recent weeks and has now added support for MotionAware zones in conjunction with the Hue Bridge Pro.
It’s time for a few updates again. The next version of the Philips Hue app, this time likely without any major new features, is expected to be released later this week. Updates for the Hue Bridge Pro and the standard Hue Bridge are already being rolled out. In addition, information is finally available regarding the update for numerous Hue lights.
Philips Hue has just released version 5.66.0 of its official app, introducing the SpatialAware feature—announced in January—for the Hue Bridge Pro. The update also includes improvements for the Hue Secure video doorbell. The update is now available in the Google Play Store for Android devices and in the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad.
Philips Hue continues to work on its products. While I unfortunately still have no information about what the new software version 1.145.2 entails for an increasing number of lights, the manufacturer is releasing another update for the Hue Secure cameras. Software version 1.3.1.1294140 is being rolled out starting today. The update notes state: “Fixed an issue that could cause onboarding to fail for some users.”
