I really couldn’t think of a good story this time, so unfortunately the April Fool’s joke has been cancelled this year. Instead, I have some really exciting news for you, at least if you are looking for a particularly bright E14 bulb. You can now get them from Ikea. The Swedish furniture store has come up with the extremely innovative idea of shrinking the base on its TrÃ¥dfri light bulb.

A few weeks ago, Hueblog reader Johan from Sweden was kind enough not only to inform me about the launch of the new filament lamps from Ikea, but also to get me the novelties when they were not yet available in Germany. Unfortunately, it took a little longer than planned with the postal delivery and in the meantime I was able to find out that Philips Hue will launch its first E14 filament in autumn.

Only available for a short time.” Today I can tell you what this means. A new version will soon be available instead of the previous “golden” bulb.

When Philips Hue introduced its extra small and compact E14 lamp and the new extra large filament lamps with E27 base earlier this month, the calls from the Hue community were once again heard: We wish for filament lamps with E14 base. As new entries at the FCC approval authority prove, which were first discovered before the colleagues from Smarthome Assistant, Ikea is working on a corresponding solution.
