Philips Hue has now been on the market for almost ten years and is currently the clear number one when it comes to smart lighting. But the manufacturer from the Netherlands certainly cannot rest on its laurels. It is about time to pick up the pace again – because the last really big update of the Hue app was back in April 2016.
The Philips Hue wall switch module not only works with classic light switches, but also with pushbuttons. Even though this is not advertised by Philips Hue in a big way, you even benefit from an additional function when using a push button: In addition to activating scenes, the light can also be dimmed by holding the button.
If you look around the American retail market, you won’t see much of the Innr brand already known here in Europe. No wonder, since the company, which originates from the Netherlands, has initially focused on the local market. But that could soon change. A few days ago, for example, Innr received ZigBee certification for four new light sources, three of which have a form factor that is very common in the US.
Today it’s time again for a little poll. I would like to know which Philips Hue product you would like to see the most. After all, there are a few things that are not yet available – and some of them are not from third-party suppliers either. I am therefore curious to know what your favourites are.
After the Philips Hue Wall Switch Module launched three weeks ago, the app scene got moving for the first time last week: Hue Essentials delivered initial support for the new accessory. However, I quickly had to find out: The whole implementation is not yet really suitable for practical use. Since the weekend, the third-party app Hue Essentials offers initial support for the Philips Hue Wall Switch Module. I found some time this morning to take a closer look at the update and would like to tell you about my first impressions. And unfortunately, they are not positive, even though I would have liked them to be.
While I’m waiting for the last responses around the reader test for the new Hue Wall Switch Module, I unfortunately have bad news for you: Availability will remain poor in the coming weeks. Currently, the new accessory is sold out in many countries in Europe, if at all, only a few single packs are available At this point, it’s not likely that this situation will change in the near future – and if it does, it would be a welcome surprise.

With the low-voltage system, Philips Hue has created an easy way to place smart light sources in the garden in a very uncomplicated, simple and safe way.
I have been using the new Philips Hue wall switch module for a week now, and some of you have already received your orders from last week. Currently there seem to be a few single sets available in the online shop of Philips Hue, regarding the availability of the double pack I am still waiting for an official feedback from the manufacturer.
