I bought the Gradient Lightstrip Ambiance and connected it to my Philips TV. Unfortunately, the light strip only lights up in one colour and not in several colours, as I had thought. Is there a possibility or maybe an update for the Hue Bridge?
At this point I have to disappoint Michael and unfortunately also the numerous other people who keep asking this question. Even two and a half years after the introduction of the gradient products from Philips Hue, they can only display one colour at a time in conjunction with an Ambilight TV from Philips.
The fundamental problem with Ambilight and Hue
The fundamental problem is the fact that Hue and Ambilight are not from the same company – even if it says Philips on it. Signify is responsible for Philips Hue, while TP Vision is responsible for Philips TVs with Ambilight.
In the last few years, I have got the impression more and more that one or maybe even both companies are not really interested in a close cooperation around the topic of Ambilight and Hue. In any case, I don't expect there to be any new functions around the connection in the near future.
