Here’s how much the new Hue wall switch modules cost

Up to 6 amps

The launch of the new Hue wall switch modules is just around the corner. My local hardware store has already confirmed the prices, and all five new products (including a two-pack) are already listed on a Swiss online store. Additionally, a small but not entirely insignificant piece of technical information has come to light.

The new Philips Hue Wired on/off Switch for conventional light bulbs supports current ratings of up to 6 amps. With a maximum load of 1,380 watts, this should easily be sufficient for ceiling lighting in the vast majority of cases.

It is not yet entirely clear exactly how integration into the Hue system will work. I assume that with the new wall switch modules for “dumb” lamps, two things will be added to the Hue app: first, a simple light for turning on and off—or, in combination with the Hue Wired Dimmer Switch, also for dimming—and second, a wall switch module for free configuration in the device settings. At least, that’s how it’s depicted in the official product images.

Here are the wall switch prices in Europe

But how much do the new modules actually cost? The “standard” Hue Wired Wall Switch Module with a cable costs the same as the previous module with a button cell battery. The other new products are a little bit more expensive.

  • Hue Wired Wall Switch Module for €44.99
  • Hue Wired Wall Switch Module (2-pack) for €79.99
  • Hue Wired On/Off Switch 1 Channel for €49.99
  • Hue Wired On/Off Switch 2 Channel for €54.99
  • Hue Wired Dimmer Switch for €59.99

This puts Philips Hue slightly above the competition’s prices. LED-Trading sells its Zigbee modules in Germany for €30 to €40, depending on the type. However, Philips Hue offers potentially better integration into the Hue system, which I’m sure I’ll be able to evaluate more closely over the course of the month.

And this seems to be just the starting point for Philips Hue in what promises to be an exciting rest of 2026; we already have the next new products on our radar.
