It has been several years since Philips Hue introduced its brighter 1,100-lumen bulbs. Compared to the “old” 806-lumen bulbs, this is an increase of 36 percent, which is particularly noticeable with white light. The new Philips Hue bulbs are now even equipped with Matter over Thread – and are also built into the Philips Hue Flourish.
Of course, the Philips Hue Flourish is not really new. The table lamp has been available for several years and has now been upgraded with the improved bulb. The retail price of €149.99 remains unchanged, and the new generation of Flourish is already available.
The most important technical data of the Philips Hue Flourish at a glance
The Philips Hue Flourish weighs 1.139 kilograms including the light bulb, which is of course due to the solid glass lampshade. The table lamp has a diameter of 26.1 centimeters and a height of 17.5 centimeters. The lamp is therefore not completely round, but slightly “flattened.” It is also open at the bottom, allowing easy access to the integrated E27 light bulb.
As already mentioned, it has a maximum of 1,100 lumens at 4,000 Kelvin and can be dimmed continuously down to 0.2 percent. In addition to the full white spectrum from 1,000 to 20,000 Kelvin, you can of course set all 16 million colors. In addition to the direct Matter connection to a smart home platform of your choice, the Philips Hue Flourish has Bluetooth and, of course, Zigbee for pairing with the Hue Bridge or Hue Bridge Pro.
The power cord, equipped with a simple plug, is 135 centimeters long. In my opinion, Philips Hue has missed an easy opportunity to upgrade the product here. Why didn’t they use a nylon-braided power cable, as they did with the Hue Iris, for example? I would have liked that much better.
Table lamp scores with absolutely uniform illumination
One highlight of the Philips Hue Flourish is undoubtedly the light. The illumination of the glass body is absolutely uniform. The table lamp is a real eye-catcher, especially with colorful light.
The light bulb can be replaced and could even be replaced with an even brighter 1,600 lumen bulb. There would be enough space for the larger lamp, but the light source would then no longer be centered and the illumination would probably no longer be as even.
Another highlight is certainly the lampshade. A sphere made of frosted glass, which is handmade and has horizontal grooves. These grooves can also be seen as a slight structure from a distance.
Together with the slightly irregular shape and the matte glass, the result is a table lamp that is unique in its form. Of course, you could also opt for the significantly cheaper Ikea Fado Kugel, but it doesn’t look nearly as high-quality.
