When it comes to configuring the Hue system, especially the settings for switches and motion detectors, iConnectHue remains my first choice. The app from German developer Stefan Göhler received another comprehensive update this week. Version 5.10 includes proper integration of the new Hue Smart Button, which can now be configured with all the options offered by iConnectHue.
Another highlight of the app is the migration assistant for lamps. If you want to replace a defective lamp or upgrade to a better model, you can easily replace the lamp, including all scenes and switch settings, with the migration assistant from iConnectHue. It takes just a few minutes, without having to reconfigure all the settings. The assistant now also supports entertainment areas that may contain the lamp to be replaced. However, there is one restriction: the migration assistant is only available to Pro members.
This is one of the few criticisms of iConnectHue, which already costs €4.99. There is a basic membership, a Pro membership, and annual upgrades. With all three options, or if you purchase the app this year, you also get the new magical scene set “Light Feelings.” Nevertheless, it is a little confusing what you get and what additional in-app purchases are necessary for.
What I can clearly list for you, however, are the further improvements that the update to version 5.10 of iConnectHue brings. Here is a brief overview for you:
- Improvements for Home Widget and icon coloring on iOS 18
- Support for new lamp models
- Group-on switching now also possible with Hue Twilight switches
- Bug fixes and stability improvements
In addition, developer Stefan Göhler promises that he is already working on the next big innovation. We are excited to see what that will be…
