I don’t want to get too involved in politics, but I would still like to report on the impact this has had on Philips Hue users. As announced last week, prices for Philips Hue products in the US have risen as a result of tariffs. As of 1 July, it is now clear by how much: almost all Hue products in the US have become around 10 percent more expensive. Here is a brief overview of some bestsellers:
- Hue Slim Downlight 6 inch: $69.99 → $76.99
- Hue Dimmer Switch: $27.99 → $30.99
- Hue Sync Box 8K: $349.99 → $384.99
- Hue Bridge: $59.99 → $65.99
- Hue Tap Dial Switch: $49.99 → $54.99
- Hue Solo Lightstrip: $69.99 → 76.99
- Hue Smart Plug: $34.99 → $37.99
- Hue Gradient Signe Floor Lamp: $329.99 → $362.99
- Hue Go: $89.99 → $98.99
- Hue Secure Wired Camera: $129.99 → $129.99
There are only a few exceptions where prices have not increased, such as the Hue Secure Wired Camera, which remains stable at £109.99 following last year’s price reductions.
It will be interesting to see whether there will be further changes in the future, for example if the US, China and Europe (several Hue products are manufactured in Poland) agree on lower tariffs or if tariffs are even increased. The manufacturer had already informed me: ‘Signify reserves the right to adjust prices due to new or additional tariffs that come into effect in the future.’
Hue Secure Wired Camera: $129.99 → $129.99
Tariffs don’t apply to cameras? Pretty clear they are increasing prices because they think they can get away with it. Fleecing US customers and laughing all the way to the bank – screw you Hue.
