In recent years, Philips Hue has always unveiled new products at the International Radio Exhibition in Berlin—and this year seems to be no different. An invitation has just landed in my mailbox.
Under the motto “Reimagine your home,” Philips Hue plans to introduce new products on the evening of September 3, which is Wednesday during IFA week. If it goes similarly to past years, the new products should appear on the Philips Hue website starting September 4.
And now it’s time to get creative. What could Philips Hue be trying to tell us with the following teaser graphic from the invitation? I look forward to hearing your ideas and opinions!
My dream list would be:
1) Updated bridge with max fixture support increased.
2) More parity between Euro and US fixture offerings
3) Updated outdoor strip light that offers gradient sections
The zigbee 1.x standard in all hue devices prevent a hub being able to do more than 50ish devices. You can get over a hundred on zigbee 2.x but it’s not backwards compatible. Instead they should make a “pro” hub with a better faster processor and way more memory that uses all other hubs as a satellites. All rooms/zones/scenes could be store in this hub and just send the group commands to all the satellites. It’s honestly pretty simple that a simple raspberry pi computer can handle this.
Christopher.
They could easily use virtual hubs. One device. 1000s of devices. Multiple Zigbee networks+matter from now on. But transparent to the end user. The decide could assign lights to whatver virtual hub networks that is the strongest.
Pretty obvious from the leaks published here:
1. Bridge v3
2. Hue secure Doorbell Camera
3. Plan to survive with only EU market – they are going to price themselves out from US with latest tariff price-hikes.
The teaser graphics? AI generated image because they couldn’t do any better.
3. The beauty of the wor[l]d “tariffs”✨, and the plunging 🇺🇸💵 could come into p[l]ay here!? 🤔 🤷🏼♂️ 😜
