FabianPhilips Hue has once again not been very careful about keeping its products secret. A successor to the Philips Hue Play Lightbar has appeared on amazon.co.uk: Significantly better, but also more expensive than before. I have gathered the first information for you.
The new Philips Hue Play Smart Wall Washer is 15.7 centimeters high, 9.1 centimeters wide, and 7.6 centimeters deep. The price is £199.99, which is equivalent to around €235. There is also a double pack available for £349.99. According to Amazon, the new wall washer is expected to be released in the next one to four months.
Twice as bright as the previous Philips Hue Play Lightbar
With 1,035 lumens, the new model is twice as bright as the previous Play Lightbar. Together with ColorCast technology, which has already been used in the Philips Hue Twilight, this should provide three times more light on the wall. This can be explained quite easily: the LEDs on the back are not directed directly at the wall, but shine diagonally upwards. This also means that the Lightbar successor cannot be stuck behind the TV or mounted on the wall, but simply stands on its own.
A special feature is the material used. The new Philips Hue Play Smart Wall Washer is not made of plastic, but aluminum. Philips Hue writes in the product description: “High-quality materials: The light is made of aluminum with a matte finish, so you won’t see any reflections from the TV on the light.” The housing is available in white or black.
Of course, the new Philips Hue Play Smart Wall Washer can not only be used with Hue Sync and your TV for entertainment purposes, but also simply as mood lighting, just like any other Hue product. This is also shown in some product images that Amazon has kindly provided us with.
