In recent years, I have been repeatedly confronted with support requests on this very topic, and now Philips Hue has finally integrated a solution into its app. With version 5.43 of the Hue app, which is already available in the Apple App Store and will soon also be available in the Google Play Store, a small accessory trap has been fixed.
When setting up a new switch or sensor, it was previously the case that the accessory was not automatically assigned to a room or zone. If you missed this step, you could only assign basic scenes such as concentration or reading to the switch or sensor afterwards.
This is exactly where the update to version 5.43 of the Philips Hue app comes in. During configuration, the application proactively suggests creating at least one zone for the switch or sensor so that all scenes can then be selected.
Philips Hue has also improved the initial configuration of the Hue Secure camera with the update. The update description states: “Lights, camera… action! Did you know you can use your camera to control your lights when it detects motion? Now you can configure this even while initially onboarding the camera.”
