I keep receiving emails about problems with the battery life of the Philips Hue Secure wireless cameras. I’m always at a bit of a loss because I haven’t used the battery-powered version of the smart home camera myself yet. However, Philips Hue now seems to have addressed the problems.
This week, new firmware was released for the Hue Secure cameras. Software version 1.2.32.976110 takes care of numerous details to improve the battery life of the cameras. Among other things, the snooze function has been improved, which should lead to a longer runtime in busy environments.
In the release notes, Philips Hue mentions the following points in direct relation to the battery life of the Hue Secure cameras:
- Reduced battery consumption by optimizing motion snooze settings, leading to better efficiency in busy locations.
- Reduced instances of unreachable battery cameras and fixed cases where battery cameras failed to enter sleep mode properly.
- Improved automatic day/night switching for battery cameras for more accurate lighting adjustments.
- Enhanced battery performance by minimizing unnecessary wake ups, extending battery life.
I am not yet in a position to judge whether these changes will actually result in a noticeable improvement. As not all cameras are affected, I’m particularly keen to hear feedback from readers who have had problems with the battery life of their Hue Secure camera in the past.

Who cares? Hue-secure is dead. They cut the price by 70% of the original list and still no takers. Sorry for the unfortunate folks who purchased the camera lat year.
That explains why all of a sudden my camera fails to detect many events. The latest update made a bad camera even worse – great job, Hue!
My camera version reads:
1.2.32.976120
But no such version is listed. What’s in that?
I wonder if that’s why I wasn’t able to connect to the camera until I power cycled it.
Mine is also 1.2.32.976120. Noticed that thing suddenly middle of the night recording thinking someone hacked into it. I think it was a forced updated making it go to this version, but no release note mentions of it. Interestingly now it’s having connection issues, so probably also need to power cycle it?
