If you were flirting with buying the new Philips Hue Festavia before Christmas, there’s bad news for you: Nothing left. Apart from one small country surrounded by big mountains, the string lights are currently out of stock. In Switzerland, there is still a remaining contingent available. According to my information, it is almost impossible that there will be a possibility to order the Festavia light chain via the Philips Hue Shop before Christmas.
The new Philips Hue Lightguide series with the iconic light bulb design was supposed to be launched at the end of September. The first products were also shipped at that time – until increased problems with condensation inside the glass globes were discovered. After that, sales were stopped completely. Now there is good news: At least one of the three Lightguide models is available again.
You have to hand it to Philips Hue: After they have made a mess of one or the other product launch in the past and the availability in the in-house online shop was often very poor, it worked out wonderfully with the Festavia string light despite the tight schedule. On 11 November, which was a Friday, it was possible to order the string light in the Philips Hue online shop, and the first orders were already delivered on the following Monday.
In version 4.31 of the Philips Hue App there is a new mode for the Hue Festavia string light. This allows you to display not only three but five colours as a gradient in gradient mode. In addition to the normal gradient mode, which is also available for other products such as the Philips Hue Gradient Signe, the Festavia already mastered the new and previously exclusive “Diffuse” mode “out of the box”.
I actually haven’t written about the new Philips Hue Festavia string light for two weeks, so let’s change that today. I couldn’t bring myself to do an ultimate test yet, also because I don’t know yet how exactly to evaluate the product. But I can already answer one question: I like the fairy lights very much.

Philips Hue turned ten years old a few days ago and we have probably been waiting at least as long for string lights that can be connected to the Hue Bridge. Today the day has come when I can present the corresponding product to you: The Philips Hue Festavia. First of all, let’s get to the most important facts: The Philips Hue string lights will initially be available exclusively in the Philips Hue online shop from 11 November.
The Philips Hue Go portable table lamp was already introduced in the summer, but the launch has been considerably delayed. Originally, late summer was the target, but at least in terms of the calendar, that’s long past. And in Europe we have to wait longer anyway – the certification has failed and the table lamp will not be launched until next year.
If you have an eye on the classic Philips Hue White Filament bulbs, you need to pay special attention in the coming weeks. A change from the first to the second generation is imminent. Specifically, there are two things that have changed in the new generation: First, the maximum brightness increases from 550 to 580 lumens.
I have already reported about the new Philips Hue Perifo track system, especially my impressions around the external power supply turned out very positive. For me, the rail, which I currently have equipped with three spots, is a real problem solver in my kitchen. As a test, I have now inserted a Perifo pendant luminaire into the rail.
Unfortunately, we will have to wait a little longer until the Philips Hue Go portable table lamp is launched on the European market – it will not be until 2023. In the USA and Canada, the launch of the new Hue Go is scheduled for late October or early November. Nevertheless, I would like to show you today what you can expect when the new version of the Philips Hue Go comes onto the market.
