Philips Hue hasn’t exactly been successful at keeping its new products under wraps this summer. Following the new lights from the Hue Play series and the improved E14 candle bulbs, new wall switch modules have now also appeared. There will be four new products in total, including, for the first time, switch actuators for the smart control of classic ceiling lights.
At first, I didn’t really notice it, but some readers were much more observant earlier this week. The Hue Play Floor Lamp I discovered looks strikingly similar to the WiZ Gradient Floor Lamp (header image), which has been available since last year. While the upcoming model from Philips Hue will likely cost €149.99, the regular price for the floor lamp from sister brand WiZ is just €89.99.
Yesterday I shared the first images of the new Philips Hue Play floor lamp and table lamp with you. Today we’re moving on to the next new product, even if it’s not quite as spectacular. For the sake of completeness, however, I don’t want to leave out the upcoming update to the E14 candle bulb (equipped with an E12 base in some countries).
In recent years, Philips Hue has consistently unveiled new products in June, and this year is likely to be no exception. The first new product has already seen the light of day—albeit not quite by intention. Even before the official announcement, I can provide you with the first details on the new Philips Hue Play table lamp and Philips Hue Play floor lamp.
Things are picking up again at Philips Hue this week. Before the Bright Days kick off in two days—hopefully with some great deals—there’s another updated product. As announced a few weeks ago, the Hue Lucca outdoor lights have been equipped with a new bulb. In Europe, the Hue Lucca—available as a wall light, floor lamp, and path light—was previously only available with a standard Hue White bulb, whereas in North America it came with a colored bulb.
Philips Hue continues to work on its products. While I unfortunately still have no information about what the new software version 1.145.2 entails for an increasing number of lights, the manufacturer is releasing another update for the Hue Secure cameras. Software version 1.3.1.1294140 is being rolled out starting today. The update notes state: “Fixed an issue that could cause onboarding to fail for some users.”
Philips Hue launched the Hue Slim recessed light just under two years ago. Available in two different sizes, the product now appears to be disappearing from the market again. Philips Hue has drastically reduced prices in its online store. This applies not only to Germany but also to other European countries.
The somewhat strange events surrounding Philips Hue are entering the next round. After it was noticed yesterday that Philips Hue had removed the Apple Home announcement from January from its website, there is now another “interesting” change. In the eurozone, the price of the Hue Bridge Pro has been increased to €99.99.
Hueblog readers in the US have had to wait a long time for the new Philips Hue Flux light strips. When it was unveiled in September, Philips Hue announced that the new all-rounder would not be available in the US until March 2026. And now the time has finally come – even if not all variants are available yet.
While we are still in the dark about the latest firmware update for some selected Hue bulbs, Philips Hue has published new information on its website about an update for Hue Secure cameras. Software version 1.3.1.129080 is now available for download and will, in the best case, be automatically loaded onto your devices.
