FabianHue Semeru might sound familiar to you. Under this name, Philips Hue has sold various models in the Asia-Pacific region over the past few years, including table, wall, and ceiling lights. Those models are likely a thing of the past now, but the name remains. Two affordable new outdoor wall lights are expected to be released in September.
According to initial reports, the new Philips Hue Semeru product line includes a square wall light, likely priced at 79.95 euros. It’s joined by a rectangular version priced at 89.95 euros. Both versions are listed as measuring 12.2 x 12.2 x 8.6 centimeters, which, in my opinion, doesn’t quite add up. So we’ll have to wait for the final technical specifications.
No Philips Hue outdoor wall light has ever been this affordable
Here’s what we can make out from the product images that have surfaced online so far: The wall light is also suitable for ceiling mounting and features a transparent cover. Behind it is another diffuser with small grooves. It’s also a White and Color Ambiance product that can display colors in addition to shades of white. Furthermore, a hardwired power connection appears to be required; I don’t see any mention of a low-voltage system.
As for the price, things could take a rather interesting turn. The most affordable Philips Hue outdoor wall light to date is the Philips Hue Turaco—which was recently updated with a new light source—priced at 99.95 euros. The new Philips Hue Semeru undercuts this price by 10 to 20 percent. Other Philips Hue outdoor wall lights—which are a bit more stylish than the Turaco—can easily cost between 150 and 200 euros.
However, there’s one crucial detail we don’t yet know that would help us gauge the price of the Philips Hue Semeru outdoor lights: the maximum brightness. Let’s see when more details about this—and the new Hue Festavia variants—appear online.
