Video Review of the Philips Hue Play and Hue Gradient Signe lamps

All four table and floor lamps

Over the past few weeks, I’ve already provided you with detailed information about the new Philips Hue Play table lamp for 79.99 euros and the Philips Hue Play floor lamp for 149.99 euros. Particularly interesting in this regard was a comparison with the Hue Play Gradient Signe, which features a very similar design and is also available as both a table lamp and a floor lamp.

Feel free to take another look at my reviews of the two new products—click here for the Hue Play table lamp and here for the Hue Play floor lamp. In addition to the written content, I’ve created a video for you featuring all four Philips Hue products. The video was recorded in German; you can use the automatic synchronization feature on YouTube.

Which one comes out on top: Hue Play or Hue Signe?

I’d like to briefly summarize the key differences between the two product lines here.

The Hue Gradient Signe is undoubtedly Philips Hue’s premium product line. The lamps’ housings are made of aluminum, and there are various designs to choose from—some even feature a wooden inlay in the base. When set to white light, the Gradient Signe can shine particularly brightly.

The Hue Play lights also come as a single unit, but their housing is made solely of black plastic. The bases are significantly simpler and smaller in design. White light isn’t quite as bright, but the Play models can display smaller LED segments, creating smoother color transitions.

The biggest difference is definitely the price. When purchased directly from Philips Hue, the two Hue Gradient Signe lights cost more than twice as much. In stores, the price difference isn’t quite as extreme, since they’ve been available there for much longer. However, the price of the Play series will also drop a bit, as Amazon already demonstrated on Prime Day.
