Over the past few weeks, I’ve already provided you with detailed information about the new Philips Hue Play table lamp for 79.99 euros and the Philips Hue Play floor lamp for 149.99 euros. Particularly interesting in this regard was a comparison with the Hue Play Gradient Signe, which features a very similar design and is also available as both a table lamp and a floor lamp.
In June, Philips Hue launched several new products, including the new Hue Play floor lamp. Its design is clearly reminiscent of the Philips Hue Gradient Signe, which has been available for several years now. The price difference between the two floor lamps, however, is striking. I’d like to explain the differences to you—just as I did with the smaller table lamps.

Although an official press release is still pending, the new Philips Hue products are available starting today. They are already listed in the official Philips Hue online store. Back in mid-May, I was able to tell you that Philips Hue was working on two new products in the Play series and would likely release them in June: a 60-centimeter-tall Hue Play table lamp and a 135-centimeter-tall Hue Play floor lamp. The latter is labeled “Hue Play Floor Lamp Large” on the packaging.
At first, I didn’t really notice it, but some readers were much more observant earlier this week. The Hue Play Floor Lamp I discovered looks strikingly similar to the WiZ Gradient Floor Lamp (header image), which has been available since last year. While the upcoming model from Philips Hue will likely cost €149.99, the regular price for the floor lamp from sister brand WiZ is just €89.99.
In recent years, Philips Hue has consistently unveiled new products in June, and this year is likely to be no exception. The first new product has already seen the light of day—albeit not quite by intention.
