When some Hue users discovered in June that their Hue Bridge Pro had stopped working after an update, it caused quite a stir. Philips Hue identified the issue relatively quickly and, according to its own statements, determined that fewer than 100 devices worldwide were affected. So the damage was limited, even though the situation was, of course, extremely frustrating for affected users.
To prevent the issue from happening again, a fix update has now been released. Software version 2071401010 is now available for the Hue Bridge Pro. The update description states the following:
Resolved an issue that could cause the Bridge Pro to enter an unrecoverable state when automatic updates had been disabled for an extended period and a pending update was started manually.
Regular software updates or automatic updates
This bug should therefore no longer occur. Nevertheless, it’s advisable to check the Hue Bridge or Hue Bridge Pro regularly for updates. This is especially true when new products, such as the Hue wall switch modules, are released and corresponding adjustments are needed in the background.
Over the past 12 years, with very, very few exceptions, I’ve had pretty good luck with automatic updates. For this reason, I keep this feature enabled so that lights, accessories, and control hubs simply update automatically in the background without me having to worry about it too much.
In general, it’s fair to say that Philips Hue maintains its software very well. The Hue app receives an update every two to three weeks. The Hue Bridge Pro has already received 14 updates since its launch in September 2025, so there’s at least one update every month.
