As part of the IFA, Philips Hue hosted a major media event at Café Moskau in Berlin on Wednesday evening. After an official press conference, at which Hue inventor George Yianni, among others, spoke, all the new products could be viewed and tried out in various demo areas.

I have already provided a complete overview of all the new products, which will be released in 2025 and, in some cases, not until 2026 in the US, in a separate article.

If you prefer to sit back and relax, you can also watch all the new products in a 9-minute YouTube video. If you don’t understand German, you can activate English dubbing on YouTube via the settings in the video player.

Some impressions from Berlin in pictures and text

In addition to the video, I also took a few photos for you late in the evening, when many guests had already left the event. Here is a short virtual tour.

The kick-off was marked by a press conference.
All new indoor light strips were presented side by side.
The three generations of Hue Bridge side by side.
My colleagues were still hard at work late into the night.

My personal highlight, besides the Hue Bridge Pro and the Hue Festavia Globe, which, by the way, is already installed in my garden at home, was the Hue Secure Video Doorbell. And I hadn’t expected that at all.

The camera’s field of view is extremely wide, especially downwards, so even packages left right in front of the front door can still be detected. In addition, the doorbell transmits via Zigbee to the Hue Bridge when someone presses the button – and your Hue lights flash at the same moment if you wish.

Some of the new products, such as the impressive Hue OmniGlow Gradient Lightstrip, will not be available until November and December. One thing is clear after the presentation in Berlin: the coming weeks will definitely not be boring here on the blog – I will gradually introduce you to a number of new products in detail. But first, I’m going to head to the exhibition grounds and see what else IFA 2025 has to offer.

Over the last few years, I've become a real expert when it comes to Hue & HomeKit. I now have over 50 lamps and numerous switches in use. I'm happy to share my experiences with you in my little blog.

  1. That was much more new product than expected, the new lightstrips looks very interesting. Its going to be an expensive autum 🙂

    1. If they break the plane(-s) formed by the light bulbs and / or light (strip?) controllers that are part of an MotionAware™ area, then yes. Otherwise no.

So in essence, it depends on where you have your light controllers, and the level of freedom you allow your pet to roam around 😅

  2. I like the new 0.2 dimming bulbs. In a couple of my rooms with the regular bulbs the minimum dimming just isn’t enough – for example, providing just enough illumination to see your way at night without the light being too bright.

A neat feature would be if the motion detection worked with just a single bulb, rather than a zone. So that in a room with just a single ceiling bulb, walking anywhere in the room would trigger it. Accuracy is not required.
